Lisa & Yianni Day After Session Mykonos, Greece

I had the great pleasure of photographing one of my best friend's day after session in the amazing location of Mykonos, Greece. I was her maid of honor so I didn't shoot her wedding, but I definitely wanted to do something special for her! What better way to do it than having a day after session on this beautiful island! {Wedding Description}

Lisa and Yianni were engaged March 27th in New York City just after Lisa's PR firm won a prestigious industry award at a gala. Just when Lisa thought things couldn't get any better, Yianni surprised her with a late night visit to the very top of The Empire State Building where Yianni proposed and Lisa said yes. Lisa's night ended with a trophy on one hand and a diamond on the other. The couple initially celebrated their engagement with friends and family in Washington, DC at one of their favorite Mediterranean restaurants, Cava Mezze, in Capitol Hill. Yianni selected New Orleans as his bachelor party headquarters, taking some of his best buddies down on the bayou for classic New Orleans cuisine and outdoor fun, including a boat tour and alligator spotting. Lisa and some of her closest friends celebrated with a Moroccan-themed bachelorette party in Washington, D.C. where they feasted on Moroccan fare and practiced their belly-dancing moves to Arabic music. After a fairly short engagement, Lisa and Yianni wed Athenian-style in Yianni's hometown of Athens, Greece on September 7th. Both Lisa and Yianni love international travel and enjoyed the idea of encouraging guests to see more of the world, so a destination wedding made perfect sense for these two globe-trotters. The couple planned the wedding from Washington, D.C., and despite the distance, time-zone differences and occasional language barriers, the wedding went perfectly. In fact, Lisa and Yianni are firm believers in destination wedding planning being very easy and stress-free; they pulled out their Staples Easy Button after every major decision was made. The couple sought to create a non-traditional, yet culturally-inclusive wedding ceremony that would appeal to a variety of guests coming from several different countries, cultures and faiths. Most importantly, they wanted the entire wedding experience to be representative of them. The ceremony, though not religious, incorporated a subtle mix of American and Greek traditions. Both the wedding ceremony and reception took place at the seaside venue, Island Art & Taste, in the upscale suburb of Athens, Varkiza. Additional activities in addition to the wedding ceremony and reception included a seaside rehearsal dinner, visit to Acropolis and downtown Athens, and post-wedding Island hoping to Mykonos and Santorini.
